Mel Wilson
I look forward to working with you.
Like many people I have a family and personal background that has had its ups and downs.
I first started my therapeutic journey training and later training others is bereavement counselling working with a variety of clients including children and adults. I worked with CRUSE and The Laura Centre in Leicester.
I then worked in schools in Leicestershire and Nottingham, with clients with a range of presenting issues and concerns.
I have working in private practice for many years and continued my training qualifying as an Integrated therapist, Evolutionary psychotherapist and therapeutic play specialist.
I am also trained as a Family Mediator and Restorative Justice Practitioner.
Following the Covid-19 pandemic, I started to work with clients online, using talking therapy, therapeutic play and integrating multiple ways of working with online interaction.
During this time I also researched interactions between Children and Young People and their families, friends, social networks and schools online, where face-to-face interaction was restricted by the laws in place at the time. My focus was exploring the relationship between these online interactions and vulnerabilities such as ACEs and attachment.
More on that work can be seen on www.melaniewilson.uk . The research was with the University of Nottingham and was funded by the Engineering and Physical Research Council.
